  • Why?

    A family reunion. A 50th anniversary. A pending birth. Important and memorable times and moments we want to remember forever, and stories we want to tell for years to come. The camera on your phone doesn’t do these touchstones justice. You pull out your phone during those pivotal moments, and you’re no longer experiencing it. You’re documenting it. Usually poorly. Then the phone goes back into your pocket, maybe you share a clip on social media, and then it’s gone. You weren’t part of the experience because you were fiddling with your phone, and you didn’t properly cover the moment because, well, most people aren’t professionals. Now the good news: we are professionals! And we’ve been making documentary films and unscripted television for a long time. Let us work with you to document the people, stories, and moments that matter to your family.

    Well, NOW, of course! And in the future. The Legacy Project came from an idea and a goal to better hold on to the personal moments that are important to us, and for these moments to be preserved in a professionally produced way that will inspire you and your loved ones to want to watch again in the future. Like written journals and letters from previous generations that we hold on to and cherish, a video document you can share now and forever will bring your family closer in a way that no photo app can. Put down your phone. We’ve got this.

  • The Process.

    Think of The Legacy Project as your personal, professional documentary. We’ll work with you to show and tell the stories and moments that matter to you. And then we’ll shoot it. Interviews, action, the edit. Clean, proffssional images that will look great on any device. Then there’s style. Want a 16mm black and white look? Let’s dial it in. Want to get wild and shoot for immersive VR playback down the road? Let’s go! The elements we’ve put into our films and shows will go into your story. And when the film is complete you’ll have your Project, as well as all of the original footage. We’ll work together on the stories you want to feature. We’ll also collaborate on the style, look, and flow you’re comfortable with before we begin shooting.

    Every Legacy Project will be delivered in up to 6k resolution with multiple file size options on its own SSD. The will ensure your project will be as futureproof as can be and give you options for sharing the Project with your family and friends.

Tell Me More About the Projects!

The Standard Project - 3-5 minutes

This is a document of the person and the story that truly matters to you and your family/group. We’ll interview your subject, have them tell us their favorite 2-3 stories (from confessions to how I met your grandmother). We’ll get you comfortable, make the whole thing look pretty, and in the end you’ll have a 3-5 minute professional and personal video forever.

The Next Project - 5-10 minutes

Maybe you need more time. Maybe you have more to say. Maybe you’ve got something you want to show off. Let’s dig in. Prep and pre-interviews are similar to the Standard, but subjects will spend more time in the interview chair documenting what’s important to you. We’ll also put an increased amount of energy into showing some action. Is your subject an avid sailor? An equestrian? Let’s show them in their element and make it a part of their larger story. More stories, more action, more time.

The Featured Project - 10-15 minutes

Now we’re entering short film territory. Multiple interviews, multiple locations, multiple stories. For when you want to document more; not just a moment, but a full life. Think major milestone or life transition. At this tier we can have multiple people interviewed. Editing process typically takes twice as long at this point so please plan ahead.

The Forever Project - 15 minutes+

This is everything. Your own bespoke professionally produced documentary. Multiple shoots over an agreed upon period of time, an “embedded” option, a “notes” process, and more. This is for the most important times of your life: an epic family vacation or reunion, capturing stories and advice from a loved one who may be older or ill. Final run time of the Crown Project can be whatever you want.
